Add to cart. SOLD OUT!!!

The Issue

With current events causing issues for some individuals income many have turn from employees to opportunists. Investing their savings into merchandise just to sell it for profits on secondary platforms. The items targeted are hyped or trending items. Personally, this is frustrating when considering the current supply chain issues for chips and merchandises. The Xbox and PlayStation consoles have been sold out since launched. Recently the cheap version of the Xbox Series S has been seen in stock, but the more desired Xbox Series X is still out of stock. Over 2 decades ago people would camp out for the console or shoes if they really desired the good. The concept of being in person to obtain the sought after good. The current state to obtain these good are online raffle and secondary platforms like eBay or StockX. This is enabling the lucky few who did obtain the merchandise for a retail to sell it at a markup. This is disappointing for the consumer who genuinely want the product and want to use it as indented. Majority of the inventory for these items are being held by opportunists in warehouses. These opportunists store these items in warehouses to preserve the merchandise until a desperate consumer finally fork up the money to pay the higher prices. With the inventory for this merchandise being held with opportunist trying to make a quick buck this is preventing the average consumer from obtaining a desired product. The people who take advantage of the situation use bots and alternative credit cards to obtain multi quantities at MRSP while the average person is limited to one per person. If the average consumer gets lucky then they will be only able to get one. Another horrible thing that occurs is bot protection. Occasion an average consumer gets IP banned for having multiple tabs open, but the bots using proxies are allow unlimited access.

Bright Side

Since these raffles are hard to win i have been able to save money. Some companies do First Come First Serve drops. My computer is not fast enough to checkout in milliseconds, but this has made me look into create a pc that will be fast enough to compete with these bots. I am not the only person trying to go for these limited items, so it may make someone else extremely happy when they won. This situation kind of makes a person excited to see a credit card charge of over 200 dollars. With the limited nature of these items, if a single person wants to get multiple entries legitimately, they tend to get a group of people to band together and enter the raffles for one another. This is also bringing people together who may normally not talk regularly. This will make some people who share a common interest create bonds, chat rooms and meet new people. Right now, bots are winning the battle, but not the war. There are occasions where the product will be selling for less than retail on the resell market. Another thing companies are doing is constantly producing more of the merchandise. That makes it to where the limited items are not so limited after all. Doing restocks on a merchandise will increase the supply and lower the demand of the good, making the resell price drop exponentially. Another thing that companies are doing are long pre-order wait times. Even if the item maybe outdated by the time the consumer receives it at least that consumer receives the item at retail price and does not get screwed over by the current situation. This is commonly seen in technology and brand-new bikes.
